The Mexican Aerospace Agency (AEM) signed an agreement with the Ministry of Defense (SEDENA) to support the organization of the fifth edition of the Mexican Aerospace Fair (FAMEX), which will be held at the Military Base Number 1 at the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) on April 26-29, 2022.

Salvador Landeros, General Director, AEM, and Javier Sandoval, Committee President, FAMEX, formalized the agreement between both institutions to promote cooperation. "FAMEX 2023 is a civil, military, security and defense activity, whose objective is to bring together the leaders of these sectors to favor commercial exchange and promote the growth of the aerospace industry and investment in Mexico," said Landeros Ayala via a press release by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT).

The FAMEX Organization Committee outlined that the event aims to promote economic development for Mexico’s aerospace sector, with the ultimate goal of promoting the country’s leadership in the industry. The fair offers numerous events to attract foreign direct investment, aiming to generate jobs for the aerospace community and to promote Mexico’s aerospace, military, technology and defense products, explained FAMEX.

The agreement between AEM and SEDENA will allow for the installation of a Space Pavilion, which AEM will use “to give a greater boost to the space sector, position all the actors of the Mexican space sector invited to FAMEX and give a dimension of the importance of space in our lives and our future," says Sandoval.

FAMEX provides unique opportunities for professionals and investors through its numerous events, which include: the Foreign Investment Seminar, the Aerospace Education Forum, the Aviation Safety Meeting, the Business Meeting of the Aeronautical Industry of Mexico, the Summit of Rectors and the Congress of Women Leaders of the Society and of the Aerospace Sector. The event will also host demonstration flights and an exhibition, among other features.

AEM said that FAMEX 2023 will be the most important event of the year for Mexico’s aerospace sector, as it will promote technological exchange, direct foreign investment, job creation and human capital development. The event will also provide vital support to the aerospace industry.

FAMEX 2015, the fair’s first edition, received over 240 aerospace companies from 16 countries, showcased 32 aircraft, held 3,500 business meetings and was attended by 32,000 visitors. It grew exponentially and by its third edition in 2019, the event received 635 companies participating from 39 countries, showcased 61 aircraft, held 5,800 business meetings and received 52,000 visitors.
