Aeroméxico Slips to Third in May OTP Rankings Despite 89.06%

Aeroméxico slipped from second to third place in Cirium’s May 2025 global punctuality rankings, even as its On-Time Performance (OTP) improved from 87.95% in April to 89.06%. The airline was overtaken by Saudia, which achieved an OTP of 89.18%, while SAS retained the top spot at 89.72%.

Previously named the most punctual global airline in 2024 by Cirium, Aeroméxico held the leading position in January and February 2025. However, it has now gone three consecutive months without reclaiming the title.

In May, Aeroméxico operated 16,093 flights, with 99.98% tracked and 99.96% completed without cancellations, according to Cirium.

Regionally, Aeroméxico also dropped from second to third place in Latin America. Copa Airlines led the region with an OTP of 93.49%, followed by Gol at 90.70%.

Mexico City International Airport (AICM) rose from ninth to seventh place among large airports globally, despite a slight OTP decline from 87.02% in April to 88.06% in May. Cirium noted that other competing airports faced steeper drops in punctuality.

Oslo-Gardermoen in Norway topped the large airport category in May with an OTP of 91.22%, followed by Riyadh International Airport at 89.97% and Santiago Merino Benítez International Airport in Chile at 89.78%.

Monterrey International Airport made notable gains among mid-sized airports, advancing from 15th to 10th place globally. Its OTP climbed to 86.23% in May, up from 83.32% in April. February remains Monterrey’s strongest performance this year, when it ranked fourth worldwide in its category.

In the mid-sized airport category, Tocumen International Airport in Panama took the top spot in May with an OTP of 94.86%.
