Air Canada announced an alliance with Mexican airline Aeromar that will offer convenient access to several destinations in Mexico to Canadian passengers. With this move, Air Canada became the latest North American airline to expand its offering in Mexico. The close commercial relationship and tourism ties between both countries is of major importance in the region, and improving connectivity is an important tool to further enhance growth between Mexico and Canada.

“We are very pleased to partner with Aeromar because it allows us to offer our customers convenient access to a wider range of destinations throughout Mexico. Moreover, this agreement will advance our strategy to strengthen our major Canadian hubs with connecting traffic. We look forward to deepening our partnership with Aeromar to the benefit of both airlines’ customers,” said Mark Galardo, Senior Vice President Network Planning and Revenue Management, Air Canada, in a press release

Aeromar also highlighted the importance of partnering with Air Canada, one of the founding members of Star Alliance and a well-regarded airline for its award-winning service, modern fleet, commercial innovation and extensive global route network.

“We expect our collaboration to develop rapidly and are grateful to Air Canada for its trust and commitment to Aeromar. As Mexico’s leading regional carrier, Aeromar continues to add value to travelers by further expanding our portfolio of interline agreements with world-class airlines such as Air Canada,” said Fabricio Cojuc, Chief Network Officer, Aeromar.

A growing number of passengers from Canada and the US seek to visit Mexico, said Andrea Lusso, Vice President Network Planning, JetBlue. The airline recently introduced a route to Puerto Vallarta as it also aims to expand its network and international presence in Latin America, as reported by MBN.

Unprecedented demand in Mexico and Colombia also allowed American Airlines to further expand its operations to both Latin American countries, as the company claims that both markets will bring great opportunities. American Airlines incorporated Culiacan and Chetumal to its Mexican destinations last year, as reported by MBN.
