The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced the 2023 edition of the ALTA CCMA & MRO Conference from May 21 to 23 in Cancun, Mexico, where industry executives will address different industry’s challenges.

The conference will focus on disruptions in the supply chain, high operating costs, shortage of skilled workforce to meet projected growth, macroeconomic risks such as inflation and devaluation and the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in operations. ALTA highlighted that these are only some challenges that the aviation industry faces in Latin America and the Caribbean, explained the association via a press release.

According to ALTA, the objective of the conference is to bring solutions to most of the industry’s challenges, which continuously affect the maintenance and technical purchasing sector. The conference will provide collaborative networking, fostering an exchange of perspectives, and will feature eight presentations and panels.

"We will focus on what the maintenance and technical purchasing sector needs to grow sustainably, both technically and in terms of human capital. We will also address the status of the industry and what are the trends and technologies available that will impact the near future. ALTA is committed to keep relevant the longest-standing and most important meeting of the technical sector in the region," said José Ricardo Botelho, ALTA's Executive Director and CEO.

ALTA recently launched a workforce for strategic projects to lead dialogue in the region, improve all air cargo operations and promote growth through working groups that will discuss strategic aspects of operations.

"One of our tasks is to contribute with a discussion forum to identify the main challenges in the region and build bridges of collaborative work with governments and airports to work with clear, efficient, smart and standardized rules. That way, we can expand the potential of cargo transport in the region,” says Claudio Terry, Head of Cargo and Security, ALTA, as reported by MBN.
