ASA Network Grows Cargo Operations by 129.8 Percent

After a tumultuous recovery in 2021, the Airports and Auxiliary Services Network (ASA)shows renewed growth, as it records an increase in air operations and cargo from January to November 2022 against the same period in 2021.  

ASA announced that it aims to improve its services, seeking to provide better connectivity for its passengers. ASA plans to implement strategies to increase its flights and frequencies for all users. 

“From January to November 2022, the ASA Network registered a 28.6 percent growth in passenger service, equivalent to 3,324,729 people, compared to the 2,585,983 users who received service in the same period of 2021. During these 11 months, 16 terminals reported positive movement in passenger service figures,” explained SICT via a press release.

From January to November 2022, the ASA Network recorded a total of 118,792 air operations, representing an increase of 5.3 percent from its 2021 figures. However, ASA recorded growth in 10 of its 19 terminals, as it provided 6,792 more air operations in 2022. These 10 terminals were: Tamuin (55.6 percent), Puebla (44.3 percent), Chetumal (25 percent), Puerto Escondido (24.5 percent), Tehuacan (9.6 percent), Tepic (8.7 percent), Loreto (7.8 percent), Colima (7.6 percent), Guaymas (4.5 percent) and the Ixtepec airport, which recorded growth of 0.5 percent. 

“A significant rise in air cargo mobilized in the ASA airport network, from January to November 2022, was registered in 8 terminals, adding a total of 7,898,291kg, which represents an increase of 129.8 percent, compared to the 3,436,909kg registered in the first 11 months of 2021. Chetumal led this growth in terms of cargo, accounting for a total of 366, 380kg, representing 1,266.4 percent growth for the airport, followed by Matamoros (359.9 percent), Puebla (172.6 percent), Campeche (38.5 percent), Ciudad del Carmen (7.4 percent), Puerto Escondido (2.8 percent), Obregon (2.6 percent) and Colima (1.2 percent),” concluded SICT.
