ASA Network Grows Passenger Traffic by 11.1% in 1Q23

The Airports and Auxiliary Services (ASA) Network continued to increase its passenger traffic during 1Q23, as it recovered in both passenger and cargo operations. ASA reported growth in most of its terminals during the period. 

The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) reported that ASA Network’s passenger traffic increased by 11.1% during 1Q23 in comparison to the same period in 2022. In 1Q23, the 19 airports that are part of the ASA Network transported a total of 957,945, explained SICT via a press release. 

ASA Network highlighted that the terminals with the highest increases in passenger traffic were Nuevo Laredo with 191.7%, Matamoros with 40.5%, Loreto with 24.7%, Puebla with 23.2%, Puerto Escondido with 22%, Guaymas with 20.7%, Tepic with 14.5% and Colima with 14.3%. In terms of operations, the terminals that reported most growth between January and March 2023 were Puebla with 28.8%, Nuevo Laredo with 25.7%, Guaymas with 20.6%, Tepic with 12.9%, Uruapan with 6.6%, Loreto with 4.2%, Colima with 3.2%, Ciudad del Carmen with 2.2% and Puerto Escondido with 1.2%. 

Air cargo operations also increased during 1Q23. The ASA Network reported the mobilization of 1.80 million kg in Puebla, Ciudad del Carmen, Chetumal, Ciudad Obregon, Campeche, Nuevo Laredo and Colima. 

In its press release, ASA highlighted that it offers the highest safety and quality standards, as it aims to improve its terminals to benefit passengers, operations and cargo. “Quality and security in airport services is a priority and permanent commitment of Airports and Auxiliary Services,” says ASA. 

Other airport groups are also reporting growth in passenger traffic and operations in 2023, as previously reported by MBN. Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte (OMA) reported an increase of 33.7% in passengers during February 2023 compared with the same month in 2022. Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) reported an increase of 21.8% in total passenger traffic during the same period and Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) saw a 24.3% increase in February 2023 compared with February 2022.
