ATI Materials Secures US$80 Million Facility Deal in Mexico

High-performance materials producer ATI Materials has committed US$80 million to establish and operate a new manufacturing division, ATI Forged Products, in Chihuahua City, Mexico.

The announcement was made jointly by Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos and ATI President and Chief Executive Officer Kimberly Fields during the opening of the Mexican Pavilion at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026.

The economic development project will focus on advanced forging and manufacturing operations serving high-tech global supply chains. The facility is projected to create more than 230 highly specialized positions, primarily targeting skilled technicians and engineers to accelerate high-value-added talent development across the region.

Local Integration and Global Supply Chains

During the event, Governor Campos and CEO Fields held strategic talks focused on strengthening Chihuahua's regional supply chain. Their discussions centered on increasing opportunities for local suppliers and accelerating the integration of domestic companies into ATI's broader global footprint.

"From here, it is fitting to send a message of hard work and strong collaboration to show the world who Mexico is, and to demonstrate that we have many reasons to be a great power not only in aerospace, but across many sectors," Governor Campos said.

Campos emphasized the critical role of international trade fairs, noting that joint participation alongside delegation representatives from various Mexican states provides a platform to showcase the nation's industrial capacity through unified cooperation.

Fields recognized the technical talent pool in Chihuahua and commended the ongoing partnership provided by the state government to support the company’s expansion.

The announcement took place in the presence of key industry leadership, including Luis Lizcano, Executive President of the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (FEMIA); René Espinosa, Vice President of Chihuahua City Invest; René Chavira, Alternate Mayor of Chihuahua; and Mario Enríquez, President of the local Aerospace Cluster.

Technical Capabilities and Cluster Expansion

ATI Materials operates as a global developer of advanced materials and complex manufacturing processes. The company's core technological capabilities encompass special alloy development, vacuum melting, rolling, forging, additive manufacturing, and high-value fabrication services across several critical industries, including aerospace, defense, energy, electronics, and medical devices.

The addition of ATI Forged Products reinforces Chihuahua's position as one of Mexico’s primary aerospace hubs. The state currently hosts five of the eight original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) operating in Mexico, supports approximately 20,000 direct aerospace jobs, and maintains an expanding network of specialized suppliers, engineering centers, and advanced manufacturing capabilities.
