Boeing, Airbus Face Paint Issues; Embraer Receives Financing

Boeing said that operators of its 787 Dreamliner jetliners have experienced paint peeling issues on wing and horizontal stabilizer surfaces due to ultraviolet radiation exposure, and asked the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to approve its plan to address the issue. Meanwhile, Airbus still faces a US$2 billion court battle in London with Qatar Airways over the deteriorating surface of its competing A350.

Mexico’s Air Operations Will Be Unaffected by 5G Technology

While the FAA has requested a pause in the implementation of 5G technology in the US due to concerns of potential interference with aircraft operations, Mexico’s Federal Agency of Civil Aviation (AFAC) said that it had received no complaints from local airlines.

Aeroméxico to Increase Routes to the EU, Asia

Aeroméxico announced that it will strengthen its presence in the EU with new flights in 2023, as the airline plans to operate the most flights between Mexico and the EU in its history. The airline will provide more frequencies to Madrid from Monterrey and Guadalajara. Following the addition of these routes, Aeroméxico will have a record-breaking operation between Mexico and the EU, with 54 weekly non-stop flights during the summer months of 2023 to: Madrid, London, Amsterdam, Paris and Rome.

Global airline capacity seems to be stabilizing after two turbulent years, reports the Official Airline Guide (OAG), with seat capacity remaining stagnant for the past few weeks. 

ASA Network Registers 30.8 Percent Growth in 2022

The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) reported that the 16 airport terminals within the Airports and Auxiliary Services Network (ASA Network) grew by 30.8 percent during the first 10 months of 2022, highlighting the implementation of quality and safe airport services.

Mexican Engineers Will Support Authorities to Recover Category 1

The Association of Aeronautical Engineers (AIA) aims to support Mexico’s Federal Agency of Civil Aviation (AFAC) to recover the country’s Category 1 airspace safety rating. AIA claims to have a bill for civil aviation, which would complement AFAC’s lobbying efforts with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
