Q: How does Thrusters Unlimited help companies make better decisions?

A: Most of our users in Mexico are public institutions. As a Mexican company, we can prioritize these institutions and offer them competitive prices. Thrusters Unlimited owns 100% of the satellite orbits that pass over Mexico. We also own an important part of the satellites, giving users certainty that they will always be able to count on us. We also provide very high-resolution images, which is something few companies can provide. But beyond being and satellite image company, we are a company that generates useful information through data analysis in order to provide users with the required data to make the smart decisions and proper planning.

Q: How can Earth observation help companies to improve their operations and how do these benefits change from industry to industry?

A: Earth observation, like GPS, comes from military development but has found many more applications in agriculture, maritime issues, real-estate development, city mapping, disaster and emergency responses, defense, security and civil protection, among other areas. The applications are endless. Satellite technology will gradually improve and become increasingly instrumental in forecasting, planning and decision-making. For example, it has found many applications in real estate, allowing companies to use our products to observe areas under development and identify new opportunities. It also allows users to follow industrial zone development and urban planning trends.

Q: How do your solutions promote sustainable practices?

A: Observation can help to monitor deforestation and changes in lakes and rivers. It can even be used to forecast river behavior to predict water availability and scarcity. Doing these forecasts without satellite technology requires the use of extensive equipment, which involves high costs. Likewise, issues like illegal logging are generally difficult to track, as its effects are not apparent to the naked eye but they can be easily identified from satellites. Global warming can also be monitored to see if the measures taken by humans are having a positive effect and assess the situation. Earth observation has increased its importance tremendously due to the damage we have done to our planet and it is now the greatest tool to aid the correction of the direction we are heading.

We are the technological partners of the digital education firm Victoria Land, a collaboration that aims to launch a product that helps to estimate the capture of carbon emissions in different terrains. We want to help ecosystems grow and promote prosperity among people.

Q: How do your solutions promote continuous innovation among consumers?

A: Our products have vast applications. The customer can modify the variables as needed to obtain the information they require. As tech advances, more software can be implemented and much more can be achieved in post-production. In our company, there is always at least one person at the end of the processing chain to verify the quality of the products and ensure that the information provided is correct.

Satellites revisit the same locations several times to measure and notice changes. It is not necessary to give the client images every 30 minutes but possible; it is more useful to provide them every two days, for example, because we offer a service to observe the evolution of an area.

Q: How is Thrusters Unlimited seeking to promote and grow the space industry in Mexico?

A: In Mexico, all users but specially government buy satellite imaging from foreign companies. We are the only Mexican company with property of Earth observation satellites of very high resolution and owners of the orbits passing Mexico. There are many resellers that do not make the images themselves. We are working with different institutions and organizations to get Mexico to centralize its space efforts. Everything pertaining to space should be carried out by the national space institution, which in this case is the Mexican Space Agency (AEM). This reduces the number of duplicate purchases, increases transparency, promotes the sector, increases sovereignty on earth observation over our country and makes economic sense.

We want to generate more jobs and our service will help to develop the technology that can boost the industry in Mexico, allowing the domestic market to expand and avoid relying on foreign companies.
