Embraer has completed the acquisition of the remaining 50% stake in EZ Air Interior Limited, giving the Brazilian aerospace manufacturer full ownership of its Mexico-based cabin interiors business. The transaction also includes selected Safran Cabin assets in Brazil dedicated to Embraer programs, strengthening the company's vertical integration strategy across its commercial aircraft supply chain.
The acquisition was completed after obtaining all required regulatory approvals and satisfying customary closing conditions, according to Embraer. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
EZ Air Interior Limited was established in 2012 as a joint venture between Embraer and C&D Aerospace, now part of Safran Cabin. The facility, located in Chihuahua, Mexico, has operated exclusively in support of Embraer's commercial aircraft programs.
The company manufactures cabin interior components for the E-Jets family, including overhead baggage bins, galleys, lavatories, and floor panels. These components are integrated into Embraer's regional aircraft production, making the facility an integral part of the company's global production network.
In addition to the Mexican facility, the agreement includes the integration of selected Safran Cabin operations in Jacarei, Brazil. Those activities are also dedicated to Embraer aircraft programs and will now become part of Embraer's manufacturing network.
Engineering services performed by Safran Cabin Brasil that are unrelated to Embraer programs will remain under Safran's control.
The acquisition expands Embraer's direct control over key production activities supporting its aircraft manufacturing operations while simplifying a partnership that had been in place for more than a decade.
Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO, Embraer, said the transaction supports the company's long-term operational strategy. "Embraer constantly evaluates opportunities to create value for its stakeholders, and this agreement supports our strategy to expand operations in both the short and long term."
Gomes Neto also acknowledged the partnership with Safran Cabin and welcomed employees joining Embraer following the transaction. "I would like to thank Safran Cabin for this successful long-term partnership and extend a warm welcome to the new colleagues joining Embraer. Together, we will continue delivering excellence based on safety, quality, efficiency and sustainability."
The acquisition concludes a collaboration that began in 2012, when Embraer and C&D Aerospace established the joint venture to supply cabin interiors exclusively for Embraer aircraft. Following Safran's acquisition of C&D Aerospace, Safran Cabin became Embraer's partner in the venture until the latest transaction transferred full ownership to Embraer.
Since its founding in 1969, Embraer has delivered more than 9,000 aircraft. According to the company, an Embraer aircraft takes off somewhere in the world every 10 seconds, transporting more than 150 million passengers annually.
With full ownership of EZ Air Interior Limited and the integration of the related Brazilian operations, Embraer further consolidates manufacturing activities supporting its E-Jets platform and expands direct oversight of cabin interior production in Mexico and Brazil.
