Dubai-based Emirates Airlines and Mexican Aeromar announced an interline partnership that will connect those travelling from Texas to Mexico with Emirates’ global network via Mexico City, Barcelona and Dubai.

“Emirates is delighted to enter into this interline partnership with Aeromar. The strength of Aeromar’s regional flight network will allow us to connect a large number of travelers from cities in Mexico and Texas, US, to our global network via Mexico City, Barcelona and Dubai. Customers will not only have the opportunity to experience Emirates’ signature hospitality and flight experience but will also have the convenience of booking their journey from Mexico on a single ticket available online on Emirates’ website or through their travel agents,” said via an official statement Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ chief commercial officer.

Thanks to the partnership, travelers will be able to book tickets to fly to and from 10 destinations in Mexico: Acapulco, Ciudad Victoria, Colima, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Ixtepec, Lazaro Cardenas, Piedras Negras, Puerto Escondido, Tepic and Veracruz. It will also connect travelers from Mexico to Laredo and McAllen, US, to Emirates’ network of over 120 cities across the world. These destinations will join the original EK 255/256 flights (Dubai – Barcelona – Mexico City and Mexico City – Barcelona – Dubai) and customers will be able to book their entire journey on a single ticket.

"Aeromar is very proud to partner with Emirates, globally recognized for its excellence of service and unrivaled Dubai hub. The agreement is a testament to Aeromar´s high quality standards and further enhances our strong interline cooperation portfolio, which includes several industry leading international airlines serving Mexico," included in the press release Fabricio Cojuc, Aeromar's Executive Director. Low-cost airlines Viva Aerobus and Volaris are leading in share of passengers in Mexico’s domestic market, according to Statista. So far, Aeromar only transport 1.2 percent of total travelers.

Emirates took its first flight to Mexico City back in December 2019, as reported by MBN. The airplane, flown by a mixed crew from the UAE and Mexico, transported over 300 people, including UAE’s Ambassador to Mexico, Ahmed Hatem Barghash al Menhali, and Mexico’s Ambassador to the UAE, Francisca Elizabeth Méndez.
