Dubai-based Emirates Airlines will resume flights to Mexico City via Barcelona with a 40 percent discount on July 2, according to the airline’s ticket reservation system.

In an effort to boost tourism and trade, Emirates Airlines will provide four weekly services (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday). “The BCN-MEX route will be operated with a two-class Emirates Boeing 777-200LR, which offers 38 business class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration, and 264 seats in economy class,” reported the airline.

Mexico City – Dubai via Barcelona economy class summer tariffs start at $17,876 pesos, (US$900.00), while Qatar Airlines, Aeroméxico Emirates via the US economy flights are in the MX$30,000 (US$1500) price range. This 40 percent discount will be valid until May 30. The airline also offered other popular destinations that include Barcelona, Istanbul, Cairo and Athens.

The Dubai-Barcelona-Mexico City route will offer more options to passengers traveling from other parts of the world, benefitting travelers as well establishing a more pronounced connectivity to world markets where Mexican exports are bound.

“The resumed service will serve Emirates’ customers in Mexico and offer more choice to travelers heading from Europe, India, South East Asia and the Middle East via Dubai or Barcelona. The service will also provide additional connectivity to global markets for Mexican exports such as avocados, berries, mangoes, automotive parts and medical supplies,” reported the airline.

Emirates has reported the schedule for its Dubai-Mexico City itinerary: All times are local.

EK255 – Dubai 03:25 – Barcelona 08:35, Barcelona 10:50 – Mexico City 16:05. Total duration: 21 hours, 40 minutes.

EK256 – Mexico City 19:40 – Barcelona 13:45 (+1), Barcelona 15:30 – Dubai 00:15 (+2). Total duration: 19 hours, 35 minutes.

Emirates operated weekly flights to Mexico between December 9, 2019, and March 22, 2020. Nevertheless, due to the pandemic it had to cease all flights.
