Safran Expands Queretaro Plants with MX$2 Billion Investment
Safran announced an investment of more than MX$2.06 billion (US$115 million) to expand three aerospace facilities in Queretaro, Mexico. The project will create 238 specialized jobs and expand operations at Safran Aero Composites, Safran Landing Systems Services Americas, and Safran Aircraft Engine Services Americas. Company executives said the investment will reinforce Safran’s local supply chain and consolidate Queretaro’s role in aircraft engine assembly and maintenance.
Governor Mauricio Kuri González highlighted Safran’s strategic importance to the state’s industrial development, noting that the company employs more than 16,000 people in Mexico, including 4,000 in Queretaro. “This is great news, as these three new projects will consolidate Querétaro as a global benchmark in aerospace,” Kuri said during the announcement. He added that the expansion will generate new opportunities for local suppliers and strengthen the regional value chain.
Alejandro Cardona, president, Safran in Mexico, explained that the investment will allow the company to complete the full aircraft engine assembly chain in Queretaro and develop a world-class maintenance site for long-range aircraft landing gear. “Two new engine test benches will be installed to simulate flight conditions and certify equipment before integration into new aircraft,” Cardona said.
