President Andrés Manuel López Obrador trusts the Santa Lucía airport will be ready on March 21, 2022, just as he promised. “(The airport will be completed) at low cost and with high quality. We are on time and on budget," said López Obrador, while on tour to see the construction site. The project is now advanced at a 5 percent rate.

Backing him up was Director of CAF Mexico - the company in charge of the concession of the Suburban Train - Maximiliano Zurita, who said the government analyzes different schemes to develop a passenger railway that would connect the Suburban Train station of the Mexico City metropolitan area in Buenavista to Santa Lucia. The project would imply an estimated investment of MX$20 billion (US$1.08 billion), he explained.

At the working meeting of the Communications and Transportation Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, PRI legislator Eduardo Zarzosa requested information on the construction of the airport and the Mayan Train. The intention, he pointed out, is to know about the progress of the two most important projects of this administration.
