Strengthening Airports at Risk of COVID-19

Today, Deputy Minister of Health Hugo López-Gatell confirmed the first case of coronavirus in Mexico (COVID-19) and announced that the infected is a 35-year-old man who recently traveled to northern Italy. Oliva López Arellano, Minister of Health of Mexico City, increased security and sanitary protocols at AICM and will seek to replicate these measures at all airports in the country.

NATIONAL
- Dart Aerospace, one of the world's leading manufacturers of fleeting machinery and aircraft components, has begun construction of its new plant in the Chihuahua Sur Industrial Park with an investment of US$3.6 million.
- Interjet owed until the end of 2019 more than MX$3 billion (US$151 million) in VAT, ISR, fuel, migration, airport taxes and use of airspace, according to official documents accessed by the Mexicans against Corruption and Impunity (MCCI) office.
- SCT expects the purchase of 49 percent of the shares held by Aleatica in Toluca International Airport will be completed next week. Once this happens, the federal government would have full control of the Toluca Airport, which will be one of the main pillars of the Metropolitan Airport System that also includes AICM and Santa Lucia.
INTERNATIONAL
- The Government of the Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, endorsed this Friday a plan sponsored by Junts per Catalunya (JxC) for the development of El Prat airport. Moreover, Colau voted in favor of the text presented by JxC, which focuses on prioritizing intercontinental flights and preserving the environment.
