Viva Aerobus announced that airline intelligence firm Ch-Aviation recognized its fleet as the youngest in Mexico and the fourth youngest in North America. The airline’s fleet is composed of 69 aircraft (42 Airbus A320 and 27 Airbus A321) with an average age of 5.28 years. Volaris’ ranked in fifth place.

“The Ch-aviation Youngest Aircraft Fleet Award recognizes airlines across the globe that maintain young, modern, efficient aircraft. By operating new-generation aircraft, they contribute significantly to decreasing CO2 emissions while achieving better fuel efficiency,” explains Ch-Aviation via a press release.

Canadian Lynx Air’s fleet was recognized as the youngest in North America, followed by Flair Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Viva Aerobus and Volaris. Ch-Aviation analyses over 4,800 active airlines, 69,000 aircraft and more than 1,000 lessors worldwide to select the best performers.

“This recognition supports our commitment to technology and innovation. Thus, we can be highly efficient in our operations, resulting in two tangible benefits. One, offer low prices so that more people can fly and two, take care of the planet on the path towards a sustainable aviation industry thanks to the optimal use of fuel and lower CO2 emissions that our modern aircraft make possible,” says Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO, Viva Aerobus, via a press release.

Viva Aerobus celebrated its Center for Aviation Asia Pacific’s (CAPA) Aviation Award for Low-Cost Airline of the Year 2022 in June 2022. The airline was the first from Mexico to receive the award for its strategy, leadership, resilience, innovation and ability to adapt to a challenging environment, says CAPA.

"For its rapid recovery, resilience and ability to innovate and develop new partnerships in the face of changing circumstances, CAPA is pleased to award Viva Aerobus the Low-Cost Airline of the Year 2022 award," said Marco Navarria, Director of Marketing and Content, CAPA, as reported by MBN.
