Viva Aerobus is the first Mexican airline to receive the Center for Aviation Asia Pacific’s (CAPA) Aviation Award for Low-Cost Airline of the Year 2022, which highlights the company’s strategy, leadership, resilience, innovation and ability to adapt to a challenging environment, said CAPA.

"For its rapid recovery, resilience and ability to innovate and develop new partnerships in the face of changing circumstances, CAPA is pleased to award Viva Aerobus the Low Cost Airline of the Year 2022 award," said Marco Navarria, Director of Marketing and Content, CAPA.

CAPA, an international organization for data analysis and intelligence on the aviation industry, granted the recognition to Viva Aerobus at the World Aviation Summit in Gibraltar. “On behalf of the entire Viva Aerobus family, we appreciate this recognition, which represents the great effort that our team has made in these last two challenging years. We are committed to continue growing our business, maintaining the lowest cost scheme in the Americas, the lowest fares and the best customer service,” said Juan Carlos Zuazua, Director General, Viva Aerobus, via a press release.

The CAPA Aviation Excellence Awards began in 2002, as an effort to recognize the achievements of numerous airlines and airports in the face of challenging environments. An international panel of judges decides the winners. The Low-Cost Airline of the Year rewards low-cost airlines for their efforts on strategy, their position as market leaders and their capacity for innovation. The award promotes the winners as benchmarks and leaders of the sector for other companies to follow.

"We are very proud to be the first Mexican airline to receive this award, especially now, in challenging times for the airline industry in which we are coming out of a pandemic and entering a highly volatile environment," said Zuazua.
