Viva Debuts A320 in National Team Colors Before 2026 World Cup
Viva has introduced a new Airbus A320 featuring the image and colors of the Mexican National Soccer Team as part of an expanded partnership with the Mexican Football Federation (FMF). The aircraft, registered as XA-VMF, will serve both commercial flights and team operations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will host matches in Mexico and the United States.
The low-cost carrier said the aircraft will be used by both players and fans. Viva and the FMF described the initiative as a way to boost the team’s visibility across domestic and international routes. “This alliance arrives at a key moment for us, as it will help us connect and maximize our reach with fans in Mexico and the United States,” FMF representatives said.
The XA-VMF displays a design inspired by the team’s official jersey. According to Viva, the partnership aims to “connect thousands of Mexicans who will be traveling to attend the matches during this major sporting event.” This is the airline’s second collaboration with the team, following a similar A320 design unveiled in October 2024.
Viva began sponsoring the Mexican National Soccer Team in April 2023. The airline recently highlighted strong operational performance, reporting 24.6 million passengers from January to October 2025—a 9% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Viva continues to lead Mexico’s domestic aviation market.
“Although the operating environment continues to be challenging this year, particularly regarding engine availability, our efforts remain centered on disciplined execution and mitigating external pressures,” said Juan Zazua, CEO, Viva.
The airline emphasized that the partnership extends beyond aircraft branding. Viva plans to roll out fan-focused activities and experiences in airports, stadiums, and other locations across Mexico to strengthen engagement with supporters traveling for World Cup events.
Viva also underscored the importance of its network for World Cup mobility. The airline operates hubs in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey—three host cities for the 2026 tournament and its most significant connectivity centers. Viva said its route structure positions it to accommodate increased passenger demand, serving as a key gateway for domestic and international travelers.
