Viva Expands San Luis Potosi Connectivity With Two New Routes

Low-cost carrier Viva announced two new routes connecting San Luis Potosi with Monterrey and the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA).

The San Luis Potosi–AIFA route is scheduled to begin operations on March 23, 2026, with one daily flight. From AIFA, passengers will have access to more than 35 domestic and international routes operated by Viva, including destinations such as Bogota, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, Los Cabos, and Guadalajara. Ricardo Dueñas, CEO, Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA), said: “This new connection will be key to continuing to promote development and connectivity in the region. We are committed to supporting the growth of San Luis Potosi International Airport through increased commercial flights.”

In a statement, Viva said the new routes will “expand air connectivity in San Luis Potosi, improving quality of life and opening opportunities for business and leisure travel.” Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona added: “Our state has significant potential to become one of the most visited tourism destinations in central Mexico. These new routes and the connectivity they bring will nurture that potential and elevate San Luis Potosi.”

The Monterrey–San Luis Potosi route is set to launch on June 30, 2026, ahead of the summer vacation season. The service will operate three times per week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. From Monterrey, passengers will be able to connect to more than 45 domestic and international destinations, including New York, Miami, Orlando, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, and San Francisco. Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO, Grupo Viva, said: “We want flying to be easy and accessible for all Mexicans. By reaching new cities and expanding our connectivity network, we aim to improve the lives of thousands of potosinos, who will now have access to our extensive range of destinations from the new Mexico City airport and from Monterrey.”

Viva highlighted that it operates the youngest fleet in Mexico, consisting of 104 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. At FITUR, Zuazua said the airline will continue expanding its domestic and regional network. “The plan is to keep connecting major national and international markets,” he said, adding that Viva is also strengthening service to airports such as Tulum, Chetumal, and Cozumel to improve point-to-point connectivity.
