Volaris Reports 6.8% Passenger Growth in Jan-Jul 2025
Volaris transported 13.1 million passengers from January through July 2025, a 6.8% increase compared to the 12.3 million passengers carried during the same period in 2024, according to its latest monthly traffic report submitted to the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV).
The airline’s CEO, Enrique Beltranena, stated: “The third quarter is developing in line with our expectations, and we are on track to meet our quarterly guidance. In July, our domestic network recorded a solid load factor, reflecting stable demand across Mexico.”
In contrast, international load factors declined year-over-year, a trend Beltranena attributed to Volaris’ tactical focus on prioritizing revenue through fares and ancillary services. “This also reflects the recovery in available seat miles (ASMs) year-over-year, including recent capacity additions in July, which will continue maturing through the second half of the year in both the United States and Central America,” he added.
Beltranena also noted that the overall market continues to stabilize, supported by industry-wide capacity reductions aligned with current passenger demand trends.
Valmex Casa de Bolsa highlighted that Volaris transported approximately 2.7 million passengers in July alone, representing a 3.0% year-over-year increase. This growth marked an acceleration from the 0.2% year-over-year rise reported in June.
National traffic grew by 2.9% year-over-year in July, compared to a 0.2% increase in June, while international traffic rose 3.3% year-over-year, compared to 0.1% in the previous month. According to Valmex, the national segment has now seen seven consecutive months of growth, aided by easy comparables related to previous disruptions caused by Pratt & Whitney engine inspections and mitigation strategies adopted by the airline.
Regarding international operations, Volaris faced challenges due to recent US immigration policies. “This has affected international demand, as travelers have shown caution when flying from the United States to Mexico,” the firm reported. However, they noted that the visiting friends and relatives (VFR) segment remains resilient, and international dynamics may improve in the coming months.
Grupo Financiero Monex described Volaris' July performance as neutral, citing external challenges such as ongoing engine inspections, macroeconomic pressures, and restrictive US migration policies. Still, Monex noted operational resilience, emphasizing Volaris’ efficient aircraft reassignment strategies in the international segment despite ongoing demand pressures.
