Volaris Transports 2.9 Million Passengers in December 2022
Volaris’s December 2022 traffic report shows that the airline outperformed its initial forecasts for passenger traffic and occupancy. The airline continues to follow a fast-paced growth following the pandemic.
"The traffic of passengers in December was strong and booking curves remain resilient. We continue estimating that passenger growth will be in line with our anticipated capacity growth,” said Enrique Beltranena, Executive President and General Director, Volaris via a press release.
Volaris reported an increase of 18.5 percent in capacity measured in assigned seat miles (ASM) for December 2022 in comparison to the previous year. Demand, measured in revenue passenger miles (RPM), grew by 16.9 percent in comparison to 2021. However, Volaris’ occupancy amounted to 84.7 percent, which represented a contraction of 1.2 percentage points in comparison to 2021.
In December 2022, Volaris transported a total of 2.9 million passengers, which represented a 13.9 percent increase in comparison to December 2021. The airline also presented growth on the domestic Mexican market and the international market, with increases of 13.3 percent and 26.1 percent, respectively. The airline surpassed its initial cumulative forecasts with an increase of 25.6 percent year-to-year, which stood at 0.6 percentage points above the initial estimates. The load factor also outperformed results from the previous year, as it stands at 85.6 percent. The ultra-low-cost airline currently operates in Mexico, the US, Central and South America.
Volaris also highlighted that since the beginning of its operations in March 2006, it has increased its routes from five to 200 and its fleet from four to 117 aircraft. Currently, the airline offers more than 500 daily flights that connect 43 cities in Mexico and 28 in the US. Volaris also operates in Central and South America.
