FEMSA to Divest Plastic Solutions Operations to AMMI
Fomento Económico Mexicano (FEMSA) entered a definitive agreement to sell its plastics solutions business to AMMI, a holding company focused on non-GMO corn production and sustainable plastic packaging. The transaction is valued at approximately MX$3.1 billion (US$157.9 million), free of debt and cash liabilities, as reported by FEMSA.
The agreement aligns with the company’s ongoing FEMSA Forward plan, introduced in February 2023. This strategic initiative includes efforts to streamline operations and focus on core business areas. AMMI, an affiliate of Milenio Capital, specializes in environmentally focused production and packaging solutions. FEMSA’s decision to divest its plastics operations reflects its commitment to aligning its business portfolio with long-term growth objectives. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions, with finalization expected in the coming months.
