Grupo Modelo has introduced Model0%, a low-alcohol beer containing 0.4% alcohol, developed with a proprietary yeast that completes fermentation while preserving the sensory profile of its traditional beers.

The company debuted two variants of the beverage: Model0% Dorada and Model0% Negra. Both maintain the core ingredients and flavor characteristics associated with the Modelo brand. The launch marks a new product line designed to meet growing consumer demand for balanced, free or no-alcohol options without compromising flavor.

Felipe Ambra, Vice President of Marketing, Grupo Modelo, explained that the product’s key innovation lies in the "smart yeast" developed by the company, which allows a full fermentation cycle without producing more than 0.4% alcohol. This process ensures that the beer retains the traditional taste and body typical of Modelo beers.

"With this special yeast, we developed a non-alcoholic beer that really tastes like beer. It is a modern way to connect with our brand values and respond to what consumers need: flavor, authenticity, and freedom of choice,” Ambra said. He added the product is ideal for consumption in contexts where alcohol is typically avoided, such as at work, after exercise, family gatherings, or while driving.

The company plans to offer Model0% in 355 ml bottles sold in six-packs, with upcoming versions available in cans distributed through traditional retail, modern channels, and e-commerce platforms. Mariana Cuellar, Director of Premium Brands, Grupo Modelo, noted the new product broadens the company’s portfolio and caters to diverse consumption occasions without altering the brand’s identity. Meanwhile, Raúl Escalante, Vice President of Corporate Affairs, reaffirmed Modelo’s strong market position and commitment to national development through initiatives like the Made in Mexico campaign.
