Mercado Libre Expands E-Commerce Training for SMEs
Mercado Libre has launched the second edition of CLIC: El Impulso de lo Nuestro, a free, permanent e-commerce training platform designed to help Mexican producers, cooperatives and MSMEs build their digital presence and expand their sales through online commerce.
Available nationwide with no prior technical knowledge or entry requirements, the platform offers participants a personalized business assessment, six practical training modules and ongoing support to help them apply what they learn within Mercado Libre's marketplace. The initiative targets businesses taking their first steps into digital commerce, particularly local producers in the food, beverage and beauty sectors.
The program's second edition builds on the success of its 2025 pilot, which received more than 1,400 applications and trained 849 MSMEs, cooperatives and producers from Oaxaca, Chiapas, Queretaro, Jalisco, Guanajuato and Mexico City. As part of the program's conclusion, three businesses: Pan Q' Ayuda, Pergal and Habanerísima, received a combined MX$300,000 (US$17,121) to strengthen their brands through improvements in packaging, photography and visual identity.
"CLIC was born from the conviction that e-commerce can transform the work of people who have a quality product but still lack a digital presence. The first edition showed us that the model works and that there is real demand across the country. With this second edition, we are taking the next step by making training permanent, available at any time and focused on generating tangible results within Mercado Libre," said Guadalupe Marín, Regional Sustainability Director, Mercado Libre.
The 2026 edition is structured in two phases. The first is permanent and self-paced, allowing organizations to access the platform at any time throughout the year and progress according to their own schedules. Participants begin with a business diagnostic assessment followed by six practical modules covering digitalization, sales strategies, pricing, logistics and marketplace operations. The program requires approximately five hours to complete.
The second phase, scheduled to begin in mid-August, will select 30 to 40 organizations for a six-week acceleration program focused on locally produced food, beverage and beauty products. Participants will receive intensive support through group mentoring sessions and masterclasses designed to strengthen their commercial capabilities.
The acceleration phase will be delivered in partnership with FIBO, which will oversee participant support, training delivery and follow-up throughout the program. Mercado Libre said the initiative is part of its broader strategy to promote digital inclusion and economic development across Mexico. The company aims to reduce geographic and digital barriers that prevent producers and small businesses from accessing online markets by providing practical tools to reach consumers through Latin America's largest e-commerce platform.
Founded in 1999, Mercado Libre operates across 18 Latin American countries, offering an integrated ecosystem of e-commerce and financial technology services for consumers and businesses. In addition to online retail, the company provides payment, lending, insurance, logistics and digital banking solutions, positioning itself as one of the region's largest technology companies. Through initiatives such as CLIC, Mercado Libre seeks to accelerate the digital transformation of local economies by expanding access to digital commerce and entrepreneurship opportunities.
