Today's diet is deeply shaped by the evolution of society, which has transformed our routines, family dynamics, and even the way we cook and eat. Today, the lives of millions of people in Mexico and Latin America unfold at an increasingly fast pace, driving the search for alternatives that adapt to different ways of working, socializing, and organizing time.

In this context, preparing meals from scratch every day is no longer an option for many people, giving rise to new forms of eating that respond to current needs. Practicality is no longer a concession, but a daily necessity that accompanies diverse rhythms and lifestyles.

This means people are looking for practical food that combines speed and nutritional value. In fact, according to Nielsen data, more than 60%1 of Latin American consumers seek accessible options that also provide well-being.

Food options that can be prepared quickly, whether requiring minimal preparation, being easy to cook, or designed for practical consumption, become a direct response to how we live, work, and organize our daily lives. For the food industry, the challenge lies in making nutrition compatible with daily reality.

Food innovation must be a constant, prioritizing solutions that respond to the present. Solutions that understand the needs of those who come home after a long day, young people who eat between meetings or classes, and consumers who, with different budgets, continue to seek flavor, quality, and wellbeing.

We now see a clear transformation in eating habits, where younger generations favor “on the go” solutions, easy to prepare and adapted to more dynamic routines. A Kantar2 study shows that Mexican households increasingly seek “quick but balanced” food solutions, especially working mothers who prioritize products that are easy to prepare and have clear nutritional benefits.

The shift across product categories is also evident, those once associated only with speed are evolving into more complete and balanced proposals. Our food portfolio has evolved to offer solutions that bring together vegetables, proteins, and enhanced nutritional value, all in formats that are practical, affordable, and simple to prepare.

New Knorr lines, such as soups, rice dishes, ramen, and risottos, were born precisely from understanding these social changes. They are products designed for people who want to prepare a meal in minutes but also expect flavor, familiar ingredients, and an experience closer to homemade food or even a restaurant. Good food matters, and casual meals can be just as magical as special occasions are.

With these innovations, we combine flavor and tradition with convenience and technology to create complete, instant, and nutritious meals. This collaboration marks a milestone in the way of eating well, proving that food can be simple, delicious, and affordable.

A Palate that Seeks Tradition and Culture

Beyond choosing options that fit their lifestyles, today’s consumers also want to indulge their palate and discover new flavors without losing their connection to their roots. Traditional foods remain favorites among Mexicans, naturally, in a country where food is part of our identity, memory, and culture.

What’s interesting is how, as lifestyles and trends evolve, so does the way we reimagine daily life. Even at home, bolder and more playful combinations appear, such as Hellmann’s innovation  with Flaming Hot flavored mayonnaise, or Maizena introducing the mazapán flavor.

Flavor not only nourishes, it represents us, connects us to who we are, and reflects how we live in the present. That blend of tradition, innovation, and closeness is precisely the essence we aim to bring to our products at Unilever.

Practicality to Balance Daily Life

Practicality no longer means convenience, it means extra time, a lesser mental load, and greater possibility of balancing daily life.

A new window of opportunity opens for the industry when we consider that fast meals are gaining momentum in increasingly accelerated routines, where 73% of Mexicans consume snacks or food outside their main meals during the day. In this context, developing alternatives that combine practicality, nutritional value, and flavor is not only a chance to innovate, but also a responsibility to provide healthier food options that reflect the everyday reality of families.

When a brand manages to be present and adapt day by day, it naturally becomes part of people’s lives. Knorr today is in 9 out of 10 Mexican households and was recently recognized as one of the most chosen brands in the Brand Footprint Mexico 2025 ranking. Yet beyond the accolades, what truly matters is that consumers look for brands that evolve alongside their needs, staying relevant in their daily routines and moments.

Offering complete meals in practical formats has allowed us to connect with young consumers, busy parents, and night shift workers who need accessible, well-rounded solutions. While lifestyles have changed, the desire to eat well remains constant.

At Unilever, we understand that food must increasingly respond to people’s real needs and the challenges they face in their daily lives. Practicality does not mean giving up nutrition, it means understanding how people live and, from there, building solutions that accompany their reality with empathy, accessibility, flavor, and nutritional value.
