Honda announced that its 2023 Honda Accord earned the highest award granted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS): the TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) 2023 rating. The 2023 Honda Accord obtained the highest possible rating from the Institute in six of the seven categories evaluated, explained Honda via a press release.

The Accord's standard Forward Collision-Avoidance System earned an IIHS rating of “SUPERIOR” in daytime tests and an “ADVANCED” rating in nighttime vehicle versus pedestrian avoidance tests. Four Honda models have a TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) rating.

Through the “Safety for All” approach Honda aims to improve safety for all road-users. Its Honda Sensing suite, which will soon be part of all its models, implements driver safety and assistance technologies. Honda vehicles will now incorporate: Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with pedestrian detection; the Frontal Collision Braking Alert; Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), which incorporates Lane Departure Warning (LDW); the Lane Keeping System (LKAS); and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure.

Vehicles must score “GOOD” in all crashworthiness evaluations to receive the 2023 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award in: the frontal collision tests with light overlap toward the driver's side, frontal with light overlap toward the original passenger side, side test, front test with moderate overlap and a new vehicle-pedestrian frontal collision avoidance test at night.

Honda recently announced it will introduce two new hybrid-electric vehicles (HEV) to the Mexican market: the CR-V Touring HEV and the CR-V 2023. The automaker has two production centers located in Celaya, Guanajuato, and El Salto, Jalisco, where it produces engines, transmissions, motorcycles, power products and the HR-V vehicle for the national market and to export to various countries around the world, as reported by MBN. "The arrival of advanced Honda hybrids is a firm step toward electrification, with hybrid models in our current product portfolio that are in a league of their own," says Fernando Maqueo, Marketing and Public Relations Manager, Honda.
