Amazon is introducing its second-generation Echo Auto in Mexico. With Echo Auto, Alexa will support drivers in playing music, making calls and controlling the car lights, among other activities. The device is already available for purchase but users will start to receive it until March 30, 2023.

Customers have shown an increasing interest in entertainment systems and in-vehicle technology. The 2021 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study showed that the largest complaints of new vehicle owners pertain to the infotainment system and smartphone connectivity, as reported by MBN. Amazon plans to capitalize on this opportunity.

“With Echo Auto, customers will be able to enjoy the convenience of Alexa on the go, giving them the ability to ask it to play music, make calls, resume their podcasts, play games, manage their to-do list and more, all by simply using their voice and keeping their hands on the wheel, says Carlos Pérez, Country Manager, Alexa México.

With Echo Auto, customers can also charge their phones and control their smart homes from their vehicles. Compared to the previous version, this model is slimmer and has a new adhesive mount that will provide more placement flexibility. It can listen to every instruction thanks to its five microphones, which register requests regardless of the presence of other background sounds from music, the air conditioner and road noise, as reported by Amazon

The Echo Auto connects to the mobile Alexa app and can be heard through the car speakers thanks to a Bluetooth connection. Most smartphones and tablets are compatible with the Echo Auto, with some exceptions such as iPhone series 7 or lower, Android Phones running Android OS version 7 or lower and the Sony Xperia 10 III, among other models. Similarly, most vehicles are compatible with the Echo Auto but some models will not allow a connection via Bluetooth, so users will have to connect through an auxiliary cable.

As technology increasingly permeates more areas, privacy becomes more relevant. The Echo Auto guarantees that consumer data is protected thanks to several layers of privacy protection and can even activate and deactivate microphones.

“Clients in Mexico have said that they want to take Alexa with them wherever they go and we are delighted to offer them an easy way to incorporate Alexa to the car they already have,” adds Pérez.
