Audi México Produces 1.5 Million Q5 SUVs in Puebla

Audi Mexico has reached a production milestone of 1.5 million Audi Q5 units at its manufacturing facility in San José Chiapa, Puebla, the company announced Aug. 28, 2026.

The Puebla facility serves as the global production hub for the luxury SUV model and all its variants, including both traditional SUV and Sportback body styles across all trims, for worldwide distribution, excluding the Chinese market.

The milestone marks nearly a decade of operations at the site. Audi, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, initially launched production of the second-generation Q5 at the San Jose Chiapa plant in September 2016. The manufacturing site currently builds the third generation of the Audi Q5 SUV alongside the second generation of the Audi Q5 Sportback.

According to the company, operations at the San Jose Chiapa plant support more than 5,000 direct jobs and approximately 20,000 indirect positions across its regional supply chain.

"The production of 1.5 million Audi Q5 units represents much more than an industrial milestone. Behind each of these vehicles are years of learning, innovation, and teamwork, as well as the effort of thousands of people who have left their mark on the history of Audi México. Thanks to this, we continue to bring the quality produced in our San José Chiapa plant to the entire world," said André Richter, Executive President, Audi México, in an official statement.

Audi México stated that production processes at the plant operate under strict quality standards with an emphasis on resource efficiency and environmental care.
