Today, Autoliv inaugurated a new plant in Aguascalientes at FINSA’s industrial park to develop high security equipment for auto motor vehicles and steering wheels for the main global automakers. This project represents an investment of US$60 million and will create over 3,000 jobs in the state.

“The inauguration of the Autoliv plant in Aguascalientes is one of the most significant projects that we have brought regarding foreign direct investment in this current administration. Congratulations to all of Autoliv’s team and thank you for trusting our state,” said Eduardo Infante, Aguascalientes' Deputy Minister of Investment for Economic Development.

The plant was initially announced in July 2021. At that time the company said that the plant would engage in armature casting, plastic and polyurethane injection molding, leather preparation and wrapping, final assembly, testing and development.

“This new facility, along with our facility in Matamoros, will allow us to continue to provide world-class support to our customers. This investment will increase capacity but will also allow us to streamline our manufacturing processes at both facilities and create exciting opportunities for our team members in Mexico,” said Kevin Fox, President of the Americas, Autoliv, as reported by Somos Industria in 2021.

The project has been finished one year after the announcement thanks to the efforts of Autoliv and FINSA. The plant will have LEED certifications thanks to the implementation of several strategies to reduce water consumption by 52 percent and energy consumption by 7 percent.

“We welcome this community of 14 companies that generate more than 3,500 direct jobs, not including Autoliv. I am fully convinced that [Autoliv] made the right decision by choosing FINSA as its real estate developer in this location for the expansion for its business needs,” said Sergio Argüelles, CEO, Finsa, as reported by Líder Empresarial.

The development in Aguascalientes is of the 25 that FINSA has across the country. The state capitalizes on its centric location, capable employees and the support of the government to attract business to the state. “Providers like Autoliv come to complement the dream of assemblers, a door-to-door benefit that no other state has,” said Argüelles.
