The tenth edition of the Business Automotive Meeting (BAM) 2024, hosted by the Metropolitan Automotive Cluster, brought together industry leaders and specialists from across the automotive sector. This year’s event, marking a decade of fostering collaboration, focused on addressing the evolving challenges of automotive manufacturing and the critical role of innovation in driving industry growth.

The event, dedicated to strengthening the competitiveness of the automotive sector, opened with a tribute to its legacy of success. Elisa Crespo, President, Metropolitan Automotive Cluster, expressed gratitude for the support that has fueled BAM’s growth over the years.

"In this decade, we have learned together to face the challenges of the industry. This anniversary is a testament to the fact that teamwork transforms and strengthens our sector," said Elisa Crespo during her opening remarks.

BAM 2024 provided a platform to tackle the most pressing issues in the automotive industry. Conference sessions addressed topics such as the implementation of Industry 4.0, bridging the digital divide, the integration of Chinese-made vehicles into the market, the impact of the USMCA trade agreement, and Mexico’s pivotal role in the transformation of the global automotive landscape.

The event also highlighted the importance of partnerships with key institutions, including the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA), and the Mexican Association of Surface Finishers (AMAS). A standout moment of BAM 2024 was the signing of a partnership agreement between the Mexican Association of Machinery Distributors (AMDM) and the Metropolitan Automotive Cluster.

BAM Mexico, launched in 2015, has become the flagship event of the State of Mexico Automotive Cluster, which has since evolved into the Metropolitan Automotive Cluster.

The event also underscored Mexico’s growing prominence in the global automotive market. Local governments in Mexico City, the State of Mexico, and Hidalgo are actively working to revive the central region as a hub for automotive manufacturing and innovation. After losing some appeal to automakers in recent decades, authorities are now enacting policies aimed at attracting new investment and positioning the region as a leader in the automotive industry’s transformation.
