Q: What opportunities does Omnitracs see in big fleets as well as the owner-operator segment?

A: Our mission is to help our customers find their right direction. No other company has a broad product portfolio as Omnitracs. Over more than 30 years, through acquisitions and our in-house solutions, we have built a portfolio that benefits most segments. In Mexico, we have participated in security, efficiency and road safety solutions. Our vocation is to understand what the market needs.

A new solution we are launching is Omnitracs Drive, which automatically provides a clear sequence of tasks to guide drivers. On any given day, drivers are tasked with deliveries but it is left up to the drivers to follow through to the best of their knowledge. Omnitracs Drive ensures operator compliance with instructions and provides specific guidance on what load to charge, how to charge it, where to go and information on the overall state of the unit to foresee any risks. The application provides both an approximate delivery time and real-time navigation.

Q: What new solutions does Omnitracs offer to ease security concerns?

A: Customers have access to a variety of modular solutions. Depending on their needs, customers can choose our basic solution, which keeps track of their units, has a panic button and can control the ignition. If more is required, companies can choose different elements, such as periodic deceleration of the unit, reaction sensors and different solutions for tractors and trucks. Another new solution called Panel X sends an alert when specific steps are not taken, so the company can implement different protocols.

Q: What is Omnitracs’ relationship with OEMs and the aftermarket?

A: Our solutions are added to the vehicle. Having said that, OEMs have the opportunity to include the solution during production according to our customer needs. The alternative is doing the installation afterward. This is our main differentiator. Thanks to our specialized team and our technology, there is no other company that provides the level of customer support that we do. We work 24 hours a day and offer remote access for training and technical support.

We are also working with a new concept called Omnitracs One, which integrates into a single platform all the information from all our devices for easier and better use of data. Data is important and companies need to handle it properly. We have worked to generate broader reports and dashboards. One key element is that all internal information, combined with outside data, increases our ability to identify patterns and perform predictive analysis to prevent any major failure. Another important element is time management: the more time you save, the greater your competitiveness.

Q: Which market provides the greater opportunity, fleet segment or e-commerce?

A: E-commerce is here to stay. What companies need to understand is how to transfer the efficiency of e-commerce to all elements within the value-chain. It is a fact that transportation companies that are more efficient are more successful. A company can invest in technology but if the operator does not follow instructions, the investment will not deliver results. We provide data for companies to make better decisions in both long-route and last-mile segments.

Q: What will customers demand of Omnitracs in the near future?

A: The challenges for which we provide solutions will not see dramatic changes. The most important element so far has been the Amazon effect, which has changed the way technology is managed. A trend in Mexico is to develop integrated solutions for security systems while improving the protocols to react to emergencies and exceptions. Fuel management solutions are also in demand.
