BYD Expands Mexico Fleet with 100 T75 Electric Trucks

BYD Trucks Mexico has announced the arrival of the first major shipment of its new T75 all-electric commercial truck, with 100 units delivered through the port of Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán. The shipment marks the first phase of a broader deployment strategy aimed at expanding the Chinese manufacturer’s zero-emission commercial vehicle portfolio and meeting growing demand for sustainable logistics and fleet transportation solutions in Mexico.

The vehicles arrived aboard the Glovis Leader, currently recognized as the world’s largest car carrier. Built in China, the vessel measures 230 meters in length and can transport up to 10,800 vehicles across 14 decks.

According to BYD Trucks Mexico, the delivery represents an important milestone in its efforts to support the electrification of commercial fleets across the country.

“The arrival of this first shipment is a clear demonstration of our commitment to the Mexican market,” said Oscar Zubiría, Commercial Director, BYD Trucks Mexico. “These 100 T75 units are now available to help meet growing demand for more efficient and sustainable transportation solutions. This is the first of several planned shipments that will also include models such as the V9 cargo van and the T35 light truck, strengthening our ability to support customers in their fleet electrification strategies.”

The company is targeting key market segments including urban logistics, last-mile delivery, freight transportation, and corporate fleet operations seeking to reduce emissions while maintaining operational efficiency.

BYD’s expansion comes as demand for electrified mobility continues to accelerate in Mexico. According to industry data cited by the company, approximately 200,000 hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric vehicles were sold nationwide in 2024, representing growth of more than 70% compared to the previous year.

Technical Specifications

Designed primarily for urban distribution and regional logistics operations, the BYD T75 measures 5.95 meters in length, 2.05 meters in width, and 2.48 meters in height. The truck has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 7,490 kilograms.

Payload capacity varies depending on the body configuration selected by customers, ranging from 3,200 kg to 4,200 kg, with a maximum load capacity of up to 4,450 kg.

The vehicle is powered by a 150-kilowatt electric motor producing 201 horsepower. Energy is supplied by a 132-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery utilizing BYD’s proprietary Blade Battery technology.

Under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle for Commercial Vehicles (CLTC-C), the T75 offers a driving range of up to 270 kilometers on a single charge. Under typical operating conditions, BYD expects the vehicle to consistently deliver more than 200 kilometers of range, making it suitable for daily urban distribution routes.

The Blade Battery system is engineered for intensive commercial use and is rated for more than 5,000 charge-discharge cycles. According to BYD, this translates into a potential service life of approximately 1.35 million kilometers, helping fleet operators reduce long-term operating and replacement costs.

Additional features include a tight turning radius for improved maneuverability in urban environments, reinforced suspension systems, advanced electronic safety technologies, and an ergonomically designed cabin intended to enhance driver comfort during extended operating periods.
