BYD Targets Premium EVs with Denza Dealership in Monterrey
BYD announced it will open the first dealership in Latin America for its premium brand Denza in Monterrey, Mexico, by September 2025. The move marks the start of Denza’s formal entry into Mexico as part of BYD’s strategy to expand in the premium electric vehicle (EV) segment across the region.
The dealership will be located in a strategic area of Monterrey, the capital of Nuevo Leon, where demand for premium EVs has been steadily growing. Denza, initially created in partnership with Mercedes-Benz and now fully integrated into BYD’s portfolio, aims to compete directly with established luxury brands like Audi, Lexus, and BMW.
“With Denza, our goal is to penetrate Mexico’s luxury market by offering a blend of high design, innovation, and technological quality,” said Jorge Vallejo, CEO, BYD Mexico, during his participation in the Global Transportation & Innovation Summit 2025 held in Monterrey.
Vallejo also revealed that the dealership’s launch will coincide with the rollout of a new fast-charging digital platform in Mexico, enabling BYD vehicles to charge in just five minutes. “We remain committed to Mexico, delivering the best products and distributors at extremely competitive prices,” Vallejo said.
BYD’s new lineup in Mexico will include fully electric and plug-in hybrid models, marketed under the concept of “accessible luxury.” The focus will be on high performance, enhanced safety, battery efficiency, and intelligent driving assistance systems.
The decision to open the Denza dealership in Monterrey was driven by the city’s industrial growth and leadership in EV sales within Mexico. Vallejo highlighted Nuevo León as a “key hub” for the company’s regional expansion.
As part of Denza’s market launch, the flagship model Z9GT is expected to generate significant interest. Already available in Europe, the Z9GT will be one of Denza’s first offerings in Mexico, appealing to premium consumers seeking alternative EV options in a market currently dominated by a handful of global brands.
