Chery Exports 5 Million Vehicles, Led by OMODA and JAECOO
Chery International announced it has surpassed 5 million vehicle exports, becoming the first Chinese automaker to reach this milestone. The company credited the growth of its OMODA and JAECOO brands, whose combined share of exports increased from 21% in 2023 to 37% in 2025—representing a 76% year-over-year jump.
OMODA and JAECOO entered the European market in February 2024, expanding into eight countries and achieving over 50,000 cumulative sales by mid-2025. In the first quarter of 2025, their new energy vehicle (NEV) sales rose 460% year-over-year. In June alone, NEVs accounted for 51% of their total deliveries, reaching 13,716 units. To date, the brands have sold over 570,000 units across 44 markets—making them the fastest Chinese brands to surpass half a million global sales in under two years.
In Spain, the brands sold 18,860 vehicles by June 2025, including 10,000 units in their first year—an unprecedented performance in that market. In the UK, they reached a 2% market share within just nine months, a milestone that took years for competitors like Hyundai and Tesla. In Italy, sales surpassed 1,000 units in June, marking a 31% monthly growth despite a shrinking national auto market.
Chery emphasized its strategy of being “rooted in Europe, expanding globally,” highlighting its commitment to international R&D. The company has opened its first European design center and manufacturing facility to meet five-star European safety standards.
