Denso is expanding its operations in Guanajuato with an initial US$9.8 million investment, announced Governor Diego Sinhue. The company has two sites in the state, one in Silao and the other in Irapuato.

"This is really significative for the state. Once again, Denso takes a step forward as it has always done. In Guanajuato we share with Denso a passion for innovation. We are very proud that Denso continues to trust in the state as they are part of the community in Guanajuato," said Sinhue during the announcement.

Denso is the second largest Tier 1 company in the world by revenue, reporting US$41.81 billion in revenue in 2019. In Mexico, the company has four manufacturing sites. Denso first arrived Guanajuato in 2014 and now supplies components and automotive systems for Toyota, Honda, Ford, GM, Volkswagen, Chrysler and Nissan. “Process know-how, technology and engineering are key factors to gain a place in the automotive market,” said Felipe Brondo, Corporate VP of Denso México, in an interview with Mexico Automotive Review.

At its Silao facility, Denso manufactures radiators, alternators, washers and H-VAC components. Just in April last year, Denso opened its second plant in the state in Irapuato. Combined, both plants generate 2,541 jobs, 1,896 in Silao and 645 in Irapuato. "With our passion for innovation we want to push it forward alongside all the actors of the ecosystem in Guanajuato, promoting private investments on innovation, scientific and technology development, among other initiatives," said Sinhue.

"Denso is a global supplier to all major manufacturers in the world, so a large percentage of units in operation (UIOs) in the country already had our parts. However, this number has really increased in the last 15 years. The market had been evolving to include more and more light and heavy-duty UIOs with Denso components, which established our aftermarket brand," said Carlos Gómez, General Manager of Denso México, in an interview with MBN.
