Q: What unique value propositions or advantages does Johnson Controls offer compared to its competitors in the industry?

A: We offer the most extensive portfolio of products and solutions for buildings, supplemented by our revolutionary platform, OpenBlue. OpenBlue is a sophisticated means to digitize and utilize the vast information generated by our equipment, harnessing the power of cloud technology and advanced algorithms based on AI. Through meticulous data analysis, we are able to predict failures with exceptional accuracy and provide our customers with invaluable insights, enabling them to make informed decisions for their installations. At Johnson Controls, our mission is to support our customers throughout the entire life cycle of our products, ensuring their utmost satisfaction and success. It is worth noting that our competitors lack a solution as comprehensive as that provided by Johnson Controls, solidifying our position as industry leaders.

Q: How have the demands of customers shifted in terms of Johnson Controls' product offerings?

A: We are undergoing a significant shift in our offerings, transitioning from a focus solely on supplying products to providing comprehensive services and solutions. Our primary emphasis lies in the as-a-service model, which allows us to deliver cutting-edge solutions without the need for significant capital expenditure on the part of our customers. Examples of this model are our security-as-a-service offering and our decarbonization-as-a-service solution. The latter has gained substantial popularity in the EU, particularly due to the conflict in Ukraine, which has imposed significant restrictions on natural gas supply, compelling the implementation of decarbonization strategies.

In line with our commitment to service-based solutions, our OpenBlue platform functions as a service in itself. The OpenBlue manager, for instance, facilitates real-time decision-making by providing up-to-the-minute information and contributing to enhanced operational efficiency within facilities, among other benefits.

Q: In 2020, Johnson Controls told MBN it saw great potential in the healthcare and the oil and gas industries. How has the company leveraged these opportunities?

A: Mexico faces a significant infrastructure deficit across both industries and initial expectations were that the current government would make substantial investments to address this issue. Unfortunately, those expectations have not been met and the anticipated investments have not materialized. As a result, private sector investment in the oil and gas industry has become increasingly cautious due to prevailing government policies. In the healthcare sector, private investment has played a predominant role. While the need for infrastructure development remains urgent, our course of action hinges on observing the developments and policy decisions of the upcoming administration before determining our next steps.

Q: Looking beyond the pandemic, how do you see OpenBlue Healthy Buildings helping businesses adapt to other unexpected health challenges?

A: The pandemic has provided us with valuable insights and OpenBlue is an exceptional tool for effective management. One notable feature is the people locator, which enables real-time tracking of individuals within a building. This functionality becomes especially crucial in situations where someone may have come into contact with an infected person. By promptly identifying and contacting those at risk, necessary precautions can be taken. This capability extends beyond the current pandemic and can be applied to any future health crisis we may encounter.

Furthermore, OpenBlue offers a range of practical applications. For instance, users can reserve parking lots and workstations, ensuring optimal utilization of resources. Additionally, the platform allows for customization of temperature and environmental conditions within the workplace, ensuring a comfortable and tailored environment. These features enhance convenience and efficiency, contributing to an improved overall experience for occupants.

Q: How does the company identify, assess and mitigate potential cyberthreats to its operations and customers?

A: Cybersecurity is of paramount importance to us and we approach it with utmost seriousness. A dedicated team is tirelessly engaged in addressing this critical area. Given the ever-increasing frequency of cyberthreats and cyberattacks, we remain committed to continuously enhancing our defenses. Our proactive efforts include regular training sessions or our team to ensure their proficiency in detecting and mitigating cyberthreats. Q: How does Johnson Controls see the Mexican market evolving in terms of demand for its services?

A: Despite the political challenges that exist, we recognize significant opportunities in this country, particularly with regard to nearshoring. The potential for growth in the industrial sector is substantial; however, it is crucial for the government to prioritize energy supply. Certain regions in Mexico experience high demand for energy, especially in zones where industries are looking to establish themselves. By focusing on improving the energy infrastructure in these areas, the government can create a more favorable environment for industrial development and attract greater investment opportunities.
