Ferrari has reintroduced the Testarossa name with the launch of the 849 Testarossa, a plug-in hybrid supercar that will replace the SF90 Stradale at the top of its lineup. The model was unveiled in Milan and marks a new stage in Ferrari’s electrification strategy.
The Testarossa name, associated with the 1980s TV series Miami Vice and discontinued after 1996, returns following Ferrari’s legal recovery of the trademark. “Recovering the Testarossa name was essential to connect a legendary model with the future of Ferrari,” the company said.
The new Testarossa combines a 4.0-L twin-turbo V8 producing 830 hp with three electric motors delivering 220 hp, for a total of 1,050 hp. Ferrari says it accelerates from 0–100 km/h in under 2.3 seconds, reaches 200 km/h in 6.3 seconds, and exceeds a top speed of 330 km/h. Its 7.45 kWh battery provides an electric-only range of 25 km.
The 849 Testarossa will be offered in coupe and spider versions, with prices starting at €460,000 (US$497,000) for the coupe and €500,000 (US$540,000) for the spider. European deliveries begin mid-2026, with US deliveries three months later at higher prices due to import tariffs. Ferrari also announced a Fiorano version, featuring lightweight titanium and carbon fiber components, Multimatic suspension, carbon wheels, and an aerodynamic kit that reduces weight by 30 kg and increases downforce.
Design cues reference earlier Ferrari models, including aerodynamics inspired by 1970s Sport Prototypes, though the iconic 1980s side strakes are absent. The cockpit features a curved digital driver display, integrated steering-wheel controls, and a slim passenger screen embedded in the dashboard.
“We are expanding the range while preparing for our first electric vehicle,” said Benedetto Vigna, CEO, Ferrari.
