Ford de Mexico celebrated its 96th anniversary in Mexico by setting new strategies: "At Ford we believe in human progress. As part of that vision, we work to transform the way the world moves by providing transportation solutions that improve the life quality of our customers and the communities where they live," said the company on a statement.

Ford has one of Mexico’s oldest engineering centers, established in 1960, which is also the largest engineering center of "any OEM" in the country, according to the company. The center is one of the most important in Latin America and has over 2,000 employees focused on design, planning and product development for Ford's global operations.

"All this Mexican talent, that keeps growing, has been key for the growth of two of the world's best manufacturing plants, which are home to iconic models such as Mustang Mach-E (Ford's first electric SUV), Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Maverick," stated the company. The company had previously reported that its engineering center in Mexico is the second largest of the company globally, and has a 17 percent female participation.

Mexico has also become Ford’s major supplier outside the US. The company invests about US$12.5 billion in purchasing supplies from Mexico per year. “Some years ago, US$700 million were spent in the country. Now, about 17 percent of Ford's global purchases are acquired from suppliers in Mexico.

As the company approaches its 100 anniversary in the country, it introduced the Blue Oval Intelligence platform, which will be cloud-based and support the connection of Ford and Lincoln vehicles' electric, energy and software systems. The company is also introducing a new strategy: Ford+, in which customer relationships will be a cornerstone alongside investments in "disruptive technologies.” By 2030, 40 percent of Ford vehicles globally are expected to be electric as budgets for electrification plans will increase to US$30 billion by 2025. The company will also develop its own batteries: IonBoost.

"At Ford de México there are many reasons to celebrate 96 years of operations, from our new product launches that are becoming standards of quality, comfort and performances, to our firm commitment with the country. This is not finished yet. We are on the road toward our first century moving Mexicans toward the future," wrote the company. The company has 10,197 employees in the country with plants in Sonora, State of Mexico, Chihuahua and Guanajuato.
