The Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT) signed an agreement with US Gardner Business Media (GBM) to support the production, organization and promotion of the International Technology and Manufacturing Fair (FITMA), Latin America’s key technology expo. The event brings together the main technology companies, equipment suppliers and OEMs in the region and this new collaboration will connect North American manufacturers with the analytics, data and critical information they need to grow their business. FITMA’s next edition will be hosted in Mexico City in June 2023.

This agreement helps FITMA reaffirm its place among the world’s most important technology and manufacturing fairs. “We are excited to have AMT joining us to build on the success of our FITMA event in Mexico City,” said Rick Kline Jr., President, GBM. “After a successful launch of FITMA in 2022, the addition of AMT’s work with us going forward is going to accelerate the growth of this event and help us build a major metalworking opportunity in Mexico and for all of Latin America.”

The presence of major automotive industry players in Mexico, such as APTIV, JATCO, IBG Automation and Volkswagen, is critical for FITMA, according to Carlos Mortera, International Director for Latin America, AMT. “The manufacturing community in Latin America needs an event like FITMA that can showcase metalworking technologies and serve as a major opportunity for networking.”

FITMA’s 2022 edition took place on Jan. 18-20 at Centro Citibanamex, Mexico City. The event hosted 150 companies, including representatives from the major industry associations for the automotive and aerospace industry. Events such as FITMA aim to support the local manufacturing industry, which is growing at an accelerated pace. “Mexico is the eighth-largest machine tool consumer in the world and together with Central and South America, the region is the fifth-largest consumer,” said Arturo Morales, Director of Events and Marketing, GBM, to MBN.
