US automaker General Motors (GM) has announced plans to integrate ChatGPT into its vehicles as part of a broader collaboration with Microsoft. This move represents a significant shift in how GM seeks to use this AI platform to enhance the overall experience of its vehicles, said a company’s spokesperson for GM.

"ChatGPT is going to be in everything," says Scott Miller, Vice President, GM. Using the chatbot, users could access information on vehicle features and program functions, such as garage door code or even implement calendar functions to set up schedules and meetings, reports Reuters.

GM highlights that the use of this technology represents a substantial leap forward, as it can enhance different aspects of the vehicles. "This shift is not just about one single capability like the evolution of voice commands, but instead means that customers can expect their future vehicles to be far more capable and fresh overall when it comes to emerging technologies," the spokesperson adds.

GM Boosts Female Participation in STEM Careers
To celebrate International Women’s Day, GM Mexico showcased its female talent in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. The company presented a series of testimonials that seek to inspire and encourage professional education for girls and women. In the past decade, the automaker has doubled its number of female employees in Mexico, who now represent 30% of its total workforce.

"We currently have over 7,000 women in our workforce, from four generations, with training in practically all disciplines and at all levels of the organization," says Maria Zambrano, Director Human Resources, General Motors de Mexico. "Through our programs and policies, we promote equal opportunities for all the people who work at GM; likewise, we encourage the attraction of female talent, especially in our Manufacturing and Engineering areas."

GM is constantly creating programs that directly support women and offers training with gender perspective to all personnel, according to the company’s press release. By showcasing female talent in STEM fields, the automaker seeks to inspire the next generation of female leaders in the automotive industry and aims to show that the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion will continue.

Mexican talent plays a leading role in the development of the country’s automotive sector, as the industry is going through a major revolution, automakers are seeking the right people that help them achieve this transformation in the smoothest way possible.

“Simultaneously, the great contribution of young engineers in the automotive industry will be paramount in spurring innovation, turbo-charging the industry’s uptake of emerging technologies, and leading the development of more sustainable solutions,” writes Renato Villaseñor, President of the Board, Queretaro Automotive Cluster, for MBN.
