Huatai Mould to Build US$30 Million Auto Facility in Mexico

Chinese tooling and casting manufacturer Huatai Mould has announced an investment exceeding MX$520 million (US$29.8 million) to establish its first manufacturing facility in the Americas. Located in the state of Aguascalientes, Mexico, the new plant is projected to create 250 specialized jobs and bolster the regional automotive supply chain.

The project was officially presented during an executive meeting at the Government Palace in Aguascalientes, attended by state governor Tere Jiménez and senior corporate leaders from Huatai Mould.

The plant will be situated in La Aurora Industrial Park within the municipality of San Francisco de los Romo. Operations are scheduled to begin by the end of 2026.

Operations and Capabilities

The Aguascalientes facility will specialize in high- and low-pressure casting molds, tooling, precision machining, and assembly, alongside the production of aluminum and zinc components tailored for the automotive sector.

Lingsong Zhang, Sales Director, Shenyang Huatai, emphasized that the investment forms part of the company’s broader international expansion strategy to scale its North American operations.

"The installation of this plant is part of the company's international expansion strategy to strengthen our presence in North America and meet the growing demand from the automotive sector in that region," Zhang said.

Huatai Mould currently operates six production facilities in China and maintains commercial operations across Asia, Europe, and North America. The Mexican site represents the company's inaugural production footprint in both Mexico and the Western Hemisphere.

Strategic Impact and Local Governance

Addressing company executives, Governor Tere Jiménez highlighted the state’s regional advantages, citing economic stability, infrastructure, workforce talent, security, and geographic location as key drivers for attracting foreign direct investment.

"We are very pleased that you are in Aguascalientes; count on us so that you can continue to grow, because here we are open to the arrival of the best technology. We are confident that this project will strengthen the automotive industry's supply chain, boost the generation of specialized employment, and consolidate Aguascalientes as one of the most attractive destinations for high-tech manufacturing investment," Jiménez stated.

Governor Jiménez added: "We continue working so that more companies find in Aguascalientes the ideal conditions to grow and develop. This new investment represents more opportunities for our people, quality jobs, and greater strength for our economy."

Executive Delegation

The corporate delegation representing Huatai Mould was led by Lingsong Zhang, Sales Director, Shenyang Huatai, alongside Tony Du, Project Manager for the company, and Jorge Luis Ramírez, who will serve as the Aguascalientes Plant Manager.

The Aguascalientes state government was represented by Governor Tere Jiménez, who was accompanied by key leadership from the Secretariat of Economic Development, Science and Technology (Sedecyt). Joining the governor were Esaú Garza de Vega, Secretary of Sedecyt; Jorge Armando Andrade Serafín, Undersecretary of Investment and Development; Guillermo Reed Frausto, Director General of Investment Attraction; and Kenta Torres Igei, Head of Sedecyt's Asia Desk.

Once operational in late 2026, the facility will integrate advanced casting, tooling, and metal component manufacturing into the regional supply network, supporting established automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier-1 suppliers operating across North America.
