K&S Mexicana Opens US$31 Million Plant in Aguascalientes
Aguascalientes expanded its automotive manufacturing base with the inauguration of a new wiring harness plant operated by Sistemas de Arneses K&S Mexicana. The project represents an investment of US$31 million and is expected to create more than 200 direct jobs. The facility, located in the San Francisco Industrial Park, is the company’s third production site in the state.
“Aguascalientes is the state that has received the highest volume of Japanese foreign direct investment, with more than US$7.865 billion in cumulative inflows, in addition to hosting 138 Japanese-owned companies that generate over 66,000 direct jobs and 120,000 indirect jobs,” Aguascalientes Governor María Teresa Jiménez said. She added that during the current administration, the state has secured more than MX$57 billion (US$3.3 billion) in domestic and foreign investment.
Jiménez said the government will continue to prioritize “strengthening security, legal certainty, infrastructure and human capital development to ensure favorable conditions and long-term certainty for investors.” She described the new facility as part of a broader strategy to position Aguascalientes as a key node within Mexico’s automotive value chain.
“The new plant represents a step forward in technological development and operational efficiency, enabling the company to enhance its global competitiveness from Mexico,” said Tadamuri Sano, executive director, K&S Mexicana.
State officials emphasized that the investment reflects a long-standing partnership between the company and local authorities. “This project elevates both the company and the state to a new level of production, guided by a vision of continuity and sustainable growth,” said Esaú Garza, Minister of Economic Development, Science and Technology of Aguascalientes.
Kenji Kojima, president, Sistemas de Arneses K&S Mexicana, expressed appreciation for the support provided by state and municipal governments and described Aguascalientes as a strategic platform for the company’s regional expansion.
