German automotive supplier LINDE + WIEMANN officially inaugurated a new production facility in the Millenium Industrial Park on March 26, 2026, marking a strategic expansion of its North American manufacturing footprint. The plant is specifically engineered to produce high-complexity structural components for the automotive sector, with an immediate mandate to integrate into the regional supply chain for BMW’s upcoming electric vehicle (EV) lineup.
The San Luis Potosi site becomes the 16th facility in LINDE + WIEMANN’s global manufacturing network. According to company statements, the investment is designed to meet the technical rigor of next-generation vehicle architectures, with a focus on structural safety and weight reduction—two critical factors in the transition to electromobility.
Strategic Integration with BMW
The facility’s primary operational focus is the production of components for BMW’s iX3 model. This includes manufacturing structural parts of the "Neue Klasse" architecture, a dedicated EV platform. While full-scale vehicle production for this platform is scheduled to begin in February 2027, the San Luis Potosí plant will start production immediately to build inventory ahead of the launch.
The plant utilizes advanced roll-forming and joining technologies, enabling the fabrication of complex metallic components that enhance the rigidity and efficiency of vehicle structures.
Economic and Operational Metrics
The new complex features a fully automated assembly line. At opening, the facility employs an initial workforce of 100 specialized workers. Company projections estimate annual revenue of approximately US$23 million to US$24 million.
“This investment aims to strengthen the regional supply chain and meet the technical requirements of next-generation vehicles,” the company said during the inauguration.
Jesús Salvador González, head of the Ministry of Economic Development of San Luis Potosi, emphasized the state’s role as a strategic node within the Bajío region. He noted that the arrival of international suppliers such as LINDE + WIEMANN is intended to “strengthen the automotive ecosystem and create new employment opportunities in the state.”
Diplomatic and Regional Context
The inauguration included a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by regional officials and the German consul in San Luis Potosi. The consul highlighted the project’s role in “driving industrial innovation and economic cooperation between both countries,” noting that German industry continues to play a significant role in Mexico’s manufacturing growth.
LINDE + WIEMANN, a company with more than 70 years of experience, specializes in high-engineering solutions for vehicle bodies, including stamping and the development of lightweight components. Company leadership said the San Luis Potosi expansion responds to the “growing demand for advanced structural components” and “the shift toward more efficient and safer vehicle platforms.”
