Mercedes-Benz Launches New Electric Bus in Mexico City

Mercedes-Benz Autobuses introduced its new electric bus model in Mexico City. The electric bus will undergo testing across various transport corridors in Mexico to allow operators and transportation concessionaires to evaluate its performance.

The bus is based on the Urbanuss E-Pluss S6 body, with a length of 13.2 meters. It can accommodate 26 seats and a total of 72 passengers, including space for a wheelchair with a safety belt. 

Powered by an electric motor located in the rear axle, the bus offers a maximum power of 250 kW (340 hp). It is equipped with five lithium-ion batteries, providing a range of up to 400 kilometers on a single charge. The bus features air suspension on both the front and rear axles, with electronic control and bilateral kneeling. It also includes regenerative braking on the drive axle.

Onboard amenities include Wi-Fi connectivity, USB ports, and screens displaying information on stops, routes, and schedules. The bus also integrates Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Mercedes-Benz Autobuses is positioning itself as a leader in the transition to electric mobility in Mexico. This presentation is part of Mercedes-Benz’s annual celebrations in Mexico, which in 2024 marked 30 years of the company’s presence in the country.
