MG Motor Mexico recorded 36,019 units sold through the first eight months of 2026, representing a 13% increase compared to the same period in 2025 and outpacing overall market growth.
The year-to-date sales figure gives the automaker a 3.5% market share in Mexico. Company operations over six continuous years in the country have established a national dealer network currently supporting a customer base of more than 250,000 clients.
Beyond Mexico, the company reported operational growth across Central America and the Caribbean. In that region, MG posted a cumulative sales increase of 77% between January and August 2026 relative to the equivalent period in 2025, with growth reaching 122% during the month of August.
“These results reflect the trust that Mexican consumers have placed in MG. Achieving 13% year-to-date growth in such a competitive environment confirms that we are on the right track and encourages us to continue bringing technology, design, and quality to more Mexican families,” said Fernando Concheso, Sales Director, MG Motor Mexico.
Concheso noted that the company’s corporate strategy centers on integrating its fully electric lineup alongside hybrid technology as part of a broader sustainable mobility initiative.
Portfolio Electrification Strategy
The company’s growth strategy relies on product portfolio expansion with a focus on electrified powertrains, spanning internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and battery electric vehicles (BEV).
Key volume drivers across the lineup include:
- MG3: Available in ICE and HEV configurations.
- ZS: Offered in ICE and HEV configurations.
- HS Lineup: Features ICE, HEV, and PHEV variants. The HS HEV variant achieves a combined fuel economy of 22.3 kilometers per liter, emits 107.2 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer, holds a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, and includes the MG Pilot driver-assistance system.
Coinciding with International Electric Vehicle Day, the company highlighted its technical specifications for both fully electric models and its Hybrid+ powertrain platform.
Electric and Hybrid Powertrain Specifications
MG’s zero-emission portfolio includes four fully electric models: the MG4, IM, LS7, and Cyberster.
- MG4 Electric: Delivers a driving range of up to 520 km under the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) cycle in its Extended Range version.
- IM LS7: Positioned in the high-end electric segment, the vehicle features intelligent air suspension, delivers 571 hp, and provides a range of up to 611 km.
- Cyberster: A high-performance electric convertible producing 536 hp.
For non-full electric models, MG utilizes its proprietary Hybrid+ architecture aimed at urban and family vehicle segments. The platform features a Duo Drive system that integrates a 135-Kw electric torque generator with four independent electric gears mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Controlled by an intelligent gear unit, the system operates at a transmission efficiency rate of 96.44% to pair immediate electric propulsion response with extended internal combustion range.
The Hybrid+ system powers the MG3 Hybrid+, ZS Hybrid+, and HS hybrid models.
Moving forward, MG Motor Mexico announced plans to increase capital investment in the Mexican market, expand its product portfolio, and broaden its national dealership network.
