Nissan Mexicana announced the production of the new Versa 2023, which will take place at the company’s assembly plant in Aguascalientes. Nissan highlighted the importance of Mexico for the company’s global agenda with an investment of over US$48 million in the Mexican plant, which also produces the Nissan Kicks and Nissan March, reported the company.

“With a legacy that for more than a decade has combined the best of Japanese engineering and Mexican manufacturing, Nissan Versa has positioned itself as the best choice for those looking for high fuel efficiency, ample interior space, comfort and technology, all at a smart price. This is something that only Nissan is able to offer,” said Rodrigo Centeno, Senior Marketing Director, Nissan Mexicana.

The new Versa will include Nissan Intelligent Mobility technology, which will make the model one of the most complete, safe and reliable vehicles in its segment, thanks to technologies like Forward Collision Alert, Intelligent Emergency Braking, an Intelligent Peripheral Vision Monitor and Blind Spot Alert. “Until a few years ago, talking about driving assistance technologies was a reality reserved for other markets. Now, Mexico is spearheading the adoption of many of these systems,” reported the company.

These technologies also align with the company's desire to achieve a zero-emission, zero-accident future, highlighted Centeno. “With the arrival of this iconic sedan to the market, we are convinced that we will continue to captivate consumers on every journey.”

In September 2022, Nissan announced its R&D projects in Mexico and Brazil, aimed at more inclusive mobility and cleaner and safer roads. The automaker seeks to achieve this through several electrification and driving assistance technologies, as reported by MBN. “In Mexico, the automaker continues to innovate and to improve the quality life standards of people,” stated the company.

Nissan Mexicana introduced e-POWER technology, a hybrid bet offering both an internal combustion engine (ICE) and an electric one. “With this technology, we reaffirm, once again, our commitment to democratizing electric vehicles and offering a new era in the driving experience,” said José Román, President and Director General, Nissan Mexicana and NIBU.
