One of the latest Mexican startups to enter the automotive market, OneCarNow!, looks to simplify the process for acquiring a new vehicle, which is highly complex due to Mexico’s complicated requirements to do so.

Founders Mairon Sandoval and Manuel Cangas claim that the need of guarantors, deposits, insurance, maintenance and renovations, amongst other factors, stop thousands of Mexicans from successfully acquiring a new vehicle. Because of this, the entrepreneurs launched OneCarNow! in Nov. 2021 to aid others through the process.

The Mexican unicorn Kavak has become one of the region’s most successful startups for helping customers through the process of purchasing a used vehicle, a market the startup Odetta has also tapped into. OneCarNow! joins the two as a Mexican vehicle purchase startup but stands out for being the first all-inclusive renting platform for new vehicles.

OneCarNow!’s renting model allows subscribers to middle-or-long-term lease a car without a deposit. The process is simple: customers only have to select a car and fill out some paperwork and they will receive an answer in less than 90 minutes and, if approved, their car will be delivered in five to 15 days.

Vehicles purchased through OneCarNow! come with maintenance, tires, renovation and insurance. Its fully digital application can be convenient as the Omicron variant has begun a fourth wave of COVID-19 infections in Mexico.

The company offers both singular vehicles and fleets, the latter through OneCarNow! Business. It partnered with Cabify last month to offer the app’s drivers an option to acquire new vehicles, improving the quality of service offered to riders and the environment as the new vehicles are likely to pollute less than older models. Acquiring a vehicle through OneCarNow! will also offer drivers additional benefits through Cabify.

In little over three months since launching, the platform has seen great interest from customers and expects to sell over 1,200 units throughout the year. Many variables could stand in the way, particularly the semiconductor shortage lowering production of vehicles worldwide, which is only expected to worsen due to the international transition to 5G Network. COVID-19 numbers may also continue to rise but the government’s efforts to keep the economy afloat could be important factors in preventing the automotive industry from seeing operations, sales and mobility halted.
