With only a few days left for the IAISS 2023, organizers expect a series of relevant conferences for the automotive sector. In other news, Omoda arrives in Mexico with two vehicle models: the SUV Omoda C5 and the O5 sedan. In addition, Nissan has implemented a series of programs to support women in the industry, including a university that offers training to young professionals.

IAISS Puts Queretaro Under the Spotlight

The International Automotive Industry Supply Summit Mexico 2023 (IAISS 2023) is only a week away and Queretaro authorities are getting ready to receive the most important players in the automotive sector. Organizers expect to host key players like PWC, Robert Bosch and Kia Motors, among other important players from both private and public sectors. 

Omoda Arrives in Mexico With Two Vehicle Models

The Chinese automotive company Omoda, property of Chery International, officially arrived in Mexico. In 2023, the brand will seek to market 1,000 units, open 70 dealerships and define a location to build a plant that can assemble models of the Omoda, Jaecoo and Chirey brands, all owned by Chery. 

Nissan to Achieve 50% Female Participation in Mexico

With the aim of boosting gender diversity in the automotive sector, Nissan has implemented a series of programs to support women in the industry. Luciana Herrmann, Director of Corporate Communication, Nissan Mexico, highlighted that in recent years, the percentage of working women in the company has shown a significant increase. 

Kia To Expand Its Plant in Nuevo Leon

Samuel García, Governor, Nuevo Leon, announced that Kia will expand its manufacturing plant to produce two new models, one of which will be electric. Nuevo Leon consolidates its position as a center for electromobility, as it will produce the majority of Mexico's electric vehicles. The schedule for Kia’s expansion and the estimated investment for the project have not yet been disclosed.

Imports of Automotive Parts to Be Reduced With Regional Suppliers

Manuel Montoya, Director General, Nuevo Leon Automotive Cluster, announced that the cluster will look for national and regional suppliers to reduce auto part imports by 30%.
