The Automotive Cluster of San Luis PotosI has appointed Alberto Rosales, an executive at Lear Corporation, as president of its Board of Directors for the 2026–2028 term, marking a leadership transition aimed at maintaining the organization’s strategy to strengthen the regional automotive ecosystem and support industry competitiveness in Mexico’s Bajio region.
Rosales succeeds Marek Meister, a representative of PHINIA, who concluded his tenure after several years leading the organization. The transition was formalized during an assembly attended by Salvador González, head of the Ministry of Economic Development (SEDECO) of San Luis Potosi.
“During his tenure, the organization strengthened its positioning as one of the most relevant automotive clusters in the country and promoted initiatives focused on innovation and industrial cooperation,” the cluster said in recognition of Meister’s leadership.
Leadership Transition and Governance Changes
The new board structure also includes the appointment of Miguel Ángel García, an executive at EJOT ATF, who will serve as treasurer of the organization. García replaces Verónica Rodríguez, who previously held the role and was recognized for her contributions to the cluster’s institutional development.
Cluster representatives said the participation of executives from leading automotive companies on the board aims to reinforce the organization’s strategic direction while supporting initiatives related to technological innovation, specialized talent development and regional competitiveness.
The appointment of Rosales and the new board members was carried out through a consensus candidacy approved during an assembly of cluster members. The leadership team was installed immediately following the vote.
At the same time, the cluster updated its internal regulations, establishing a maximum two-year term for the presidency, with the possibility of one reelection. The change replaces previous rules that allowed longer leadership periods and is intended to strengthen governance and institutional continuity within the organization.
Continuing the Cluster’s Strategic Agenda
Cluster officials said the leadership change is designed to maintain the growth trajectory established in recent years, during which the organization expanded collaboration among companies, academic institutions and government entities.
“Under the new presidency, the Automotive Cluster of San Luis Potosi will continue working to strengthen the competitiveness of companies, promote innovation, develop specialized talent and foster value chain integration,” the organization said.
These priorities reflect the cluster’s role as a coordinating body for industry stakeholders operating in the state. By facilitating cooperation between manufacturers, suppliers, universities and public institutions, the organization seeks to address workforce needs, support technological development and improve the overall competitiveness of the regional automotive industry.
Officials also emphasized the importance of maintaining the “unity and collaboration” that have characterized the automotive sector in San Luis Potosi.
