Toyota is setting the tone in the supply chain with all Tacoma production being moved to Mexico and with a 10-year US$3.4 billion investment in an electrified mobility plant, in addition to a partnership with Joby Aviation (air taxi). However, these supply chains are faced with important challenges that must be tackled such as the semiconductor shortage, labor stability in the form of availability and health. And finally, logistic congestion near an all-time high with ports having an average of 20-day delay from normal unload and a 2-week air delay inbound to Asia. Despite these challenges, the USMCA is set to increase opportunities in Mexico by developing a culture of competitiveness and investment in sustainability.
